Our End of year Recruitment Period is Now Closed - Next Recruitment Mid 2021

Kia ora -
T
his year we are looking for young people who are keen to take a role in delivering an event in their community! We have a budget to hold an event and for young people to pitch ideas for their community: whether it be a skate ramp, a yoga series or an art show - anything the young people think will improve their communities!

General Members dedicate three hours or more a month towards the organisation. General membership is a broader, more accommodating role than an executive member , ideal for those with busy schedules, a specific interest in one field, or for those that want to develop further within the organisation before taking up a more time-intensive role. They do not have voting rights but can still attend fortnightly meetings. They can take up any other opportunities within the Council.

Commitment:

Many of our members are pretty into what they do within the CYC– it is important that if you're successful, you stick at it or you're honest if you can’t.

In return, you get access to a variety of trainings and personal development opportunities. You’ll be able to connect and build relationships with other passionate young people and key decision makers around Christchurch, as well as being able to build your skill set as a professional young person. We provide snacks at meetings, and aim to give you the keys to drive your own ideas.

Application and Recruitment Process:
We would like you to be able to create a submission in any way you feel comfortable, whether that’s a video, poster, vlog, voice recording, written form. Here are some questions that you might want to focus on during your submission:

  • What made you want to apply to join Christchurch Youth Council?
  • Describe some things you've done/skills you have that might come in useful for this?
  • To what extent are you able to commit to Christchurch Youth Council?
  • Which skills would you like to develop with Christchurch Youth Council?
  •  What is most important part of Christchurch for you?
  • And anything else you’d like to add!

In the application below we will also ask you the following:Your name
  • Your age
  • The suburb you live in
  • Your school / educational institute / work / or anything else that keeps you busy during the day

This year we have started a new way of recruiting our executive committee, we will be having two internal recruitments of our executive, from general members. This means that if you would like to become an executive committee member, you will first need to work as a general member for at least 3 months. It gives you the experience and knowledge of the role to be truly prepared for the executive committee position. If you have had previous experience in the youth council or if you have any queries about this, please get in touch.
If you would rather not complete the form, please application through to chchyouthcouncil@gmail.com, if you are not comfortable sending in an application and would rather just meet the team and answer a few questions thats okay too, just get in touch. If you have any questions, please just email, message our Facebook or contact us on 0220994409.
